ACT LIKE A
LADY
(SOIS UNE LADY)
Introduced by
Shapiro Bernstein Music (Denny's first publisher), Denny and Neil
Diamond penned this song together before either of them had written
their first hit.
| Denny: |
"Neil
had a cozy little office on Broadway at that time with an upright
piano in it. After Neil and I met at the SB offices we walked
over there. Neil got out his acoustic guitar, I sat down at the
piano and we wrote the song. |
| |
For the demo
we went to Dick Charles recording, the demo studio de Jour of
the times, and laid down a simple track. Then Neil sang and in
an hour or so we had our demo. |
| |
We wrote
the song for a female artist, maybe Leslie Gore. If so, she didn't
record it. But a French version was recorded at some point, I
guess from our little demo". |
Note:
In getting this short story together for the web site, Denny has become
curious to hear the French version and is checking around for it.
