April 6th, 2013 was a magical evening for us with The Great Tomsoni & Co., Johnny and Pam Thompson, at The Magic Castle in Hollywood.
A tour of the White House by the President? A stroll through the Vatican with the Pope? That’s what it felt like to walk the halls of this grand private clubhouse for the Academy of Magical Arts with our famed magician friends.
John and Pam have received innumerable magic awards and John is the recipient of the highest honor in the magician community – the Masters Fellowship form the Academy itself. He was in town to present Penn & Teller with their 2nd Magician Of The Year Award, which came hours after they received their Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
Irma, the invisible piano player, played one of Denny’s hit songs upon John’s command and we saw historic displays filled with incredible memorabilia, including Houdini’s straight jacket, and mind boggling magic shows in rooms upstairs, downstairs and everywhere.
If you’ve seen Penn & Teller, Lance Burton or Criss Angel’s show, you’ve seen some of John’s incredible work as he masterminds many of their illusions.
There was no end to the fellow magicians at the Castle who knew John and Pam and came up to greet them. Special thanks to Joan Lawton, board member of The Academy, for her wonderful hospitality.
If you haven’t seen John and Pam’s fantastic performance on our song, record and video “This Time I’ve Got It” – here it is. An apt theme for a night we’ll always remember!
