With a surprise upgrade to a Penthouse Suite at the Hilton Village, we were treated to an incredible vista of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head without even leaving the room. We shared the ocean with sea turtles and schools of fish and other little creatures I don’t know the names of. Hanauma Bay is spectacular with or without fins.
Sunday brunch at the historic Royal (Pink) Hotel was topped only by our 76 year old waitress who has worked there for over 40 years!
And speaking of 40 years, that’s about how long it’s been since Denny was the musical director of the Rock Opera Tommy production at the Aquarius Theatre in Los Angeles where he and writer, singer and actor David Talisman who played “wicked Uncle Ernie” became friends.
After all these years they reconnected (thanks to the internet) and it was great to hang out with David and his wonderful wife Kyoko, catching up on projects and enjoying wonderful food together, like Hamachi Kama (cheek of yellowtail)!
I hope we have more business to do in Oahu soon!
